Our story
Founded in 2005 by a group of logistics professionals, GLS began as a small freight forwarder in London. Over two decades we’ve scaled into a global logistics provider serving manufacturing, retail, healthcare, technology and perishable goods industries. Our growth is rooted in operational excellence, technology investments and partnerships.
Founding principles
We built GLS on three principles:

- Transparent communication: Clients always have full visibility into status and exceptions.
- Continuous improvement: Learn from operations data and improve the network each quarter.

Safety & compliance
Safety is a core part of our operational culture. GLS maintains ISO safety standards where applicable and conducts regular compliance audits for hazardous materials and regulated shipments. Our onboarding for carriers and handling partners includes verification of certifications and insurance and real-time safety incident reporting.
Insurance & liability
GLS provides cargo insurance options for clients, with transparent declarations required for high-value and special-handling goods.
Technology & innovation
Technology is embedded in our operations: routing engine, TMS/WMS, IoT-enabled containers, and an analytics platform that surfaces lane-level performance and exceptions. Our developer team releases updates quarterly and partners with clients to integrate via API.
Data & analytics
Clients get access to dashboards for on-time performance, dwell time, and CO₂ reporting. GLS uses aggregated anonymized data to recommend network improvements and consolidation opportunities.
Corporate responsibility
GLS invests in community programs and sustainable practices. We work to reduce empty miles, maximize load efficiency and invest in renewable-energy contracts for our facilities.
Careers & culture
We cultivate talent via training, mentorship and global mobility programs. Our culture emphasizes ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.
